This page explains what information PrimeTime Fishing collects, how it's used, and how it's looked after. Written in plain language, because that's how we do things here.
Who we are
PrimeTime Fishing is a fishing app for dedicated Aussie anglers, built by Dane Hegvold (ABN 89 343 610 848).

What we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and, if you choose to set one, a display name.
Location and preferences
Your home waterway, target species, and moon phase preferences — used to personalise weather, water, and bite-window information for you.
Catch and session data
Whatever you choose to log — species, length, lure, technique, notes, and the conditions (weather, water, moon) at the time of the catch. This is yours, and it's the core of what makes the app useful to you over time.
How we use it
We use your information to run the app's core features — pulling in weather, water conditions and moon data for your chosen location, and helping you track your own catches and sessions over time.
We may also use your email to send you occasional updates about the app, or to ask for feedback as we continue building. You can always get in touch if you'd rather not receive these.
Automated features
PrimeTime calculates things like Prime Time percentage and bite windows automatically, based on weather, water and moon data. These are suggestions to help you plan a session — not decisions made about you or your account, and they don't affect any rights you have with us.
Third-party services
Like most apps, we rely on other providers to make PrimeTime work:
- Supabase — stores your account and app data, hosted on Australian-based servers (Sydney)
- Netlify — hosts the app itself
- Open-Meteo and the Bureau of Meteorology — supply weather and water data
- Google Analytics — helps us understand how the app is used, in aggregate. We don't send it your name, email, or catch details — just general usage patterns.
Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is still handled with the same care.
How we look after your information
Your data is protected with row-level security, meaning your catches and account details are only ever accessible to you. We take reasonable steps to keep things secure, and we won't sell your personal information or hand it to other businesses so they can market to you. That's not our style.
Your rights
Under Australian privacy law, you can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct something that's inaccurate, or ask us to delete your account and data entirely.
You can also download a full copy of your own data any time, directly from the app — go to your profile, then Privacy and legal, then Download my data.
For anything else, just email dane@primetimefishing.com.au.
Younger anglers
PrimeTime isn't specifically directed at children, but we know fishing is often a family activity. If you're under 18, we'd encourage using the app with a parent or guardian's involvement. We're following the development of Australia's upcoming Children's Online Privacy Code and will update this policy as needed once it's finalised.
Third-party links
Sometimes we might link to other websites or services. Once you leave PrimeTime, their privacy practices are their own responsibility, so it's worth reviewing their policies too.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PrimeTime grows. If we make changes, we'll update this page.
